How to Change The World in 10 Steps !

On May 17th 2014, Naval Admiral William H.McRaven, Ninth Commander of U.S. Special Operations Command, delivered a memorable speech at the University of Texas, urging Graduates to Find Courage to Change the World.

If you have 20 minutes, watch his speech and see how to hold, engage with and motivate an audience.

In a nutshell, these are some of his 10 ways in which he encouraged the students of the University of Texas to go out and Change the World.

  1. Make your bed every day and make it right. You will have accomplished your first task of the day. The little things matter and if all else goes wrong, you will come home to a well made bed that you made.

  1. You can't do it alone. Find someone to help you, colleagues, friends, even strangers, the total is greater than the sum of the parts.

  1. Nothing matters but the will to succeed. Measure someone by the size of their heart, not their stature. 2. Accept that you are going to fail at some things - accept it and keep moving forward.woman walking in the forest

  3. You will fail and probably fail often, but failure makes you stronger - learn from each time you fail and get stronger.

  4. Sometimes you have to approach obstacles head first. Don't skirt around the difficult things, face up to them.

  5. Don't back down from the sharks in the world. Face up to them, challenge them and they will back down.

  1. When you are up to your neck in mud, start singing. Be as cheerful as you can in the darkest times, they will pass quicker.
